Google Ads FAQ

What is Google Ads?

Google Ads (formerly Google AdWords) is an online advertising solution that businesses use to promote their products and services on the Google Search and Display Networks. Think of it as the modern day Yellow Pages.

Google Ads also allows you to choose specific goals for your ads, like driving phone calls or website visits. You can customize your budgets and who you target using google metrics, and start or stop your ads at any time, all within a budget you set.

Why Use Google Ads?

It’s simple, do you want to reach potential customers who are searching for the products and services that you offer? Google is where people search for what to do, where to go, what to eat and what to buy. Your ad can appear on Google at the very moment someone is looking for products or services like yours. Whether they’re on desktop or mobile.

Google Ads search engine marketing allows you to get in front of customers when they’re searching for businesses like yours. Remember you only pay for results, like clicks to your website or calls to your business.

Unlike traditional media, online campaigns are highly measurable, allowing you to analyze your click data and accurately work out your ROI.

How Does Google Ads Work?

When someone searches for keywords related to your products and services, an ad for your business will appear on Google’s search result pages. Customers who click on the ads can then call your business, or be sent to targeted landing pages on your website.

Google Ads helps get your ads in front of potential customers at just the moment they’re ready to take action. Advanced options allow advertisers to set the right bids and target only the most relevant keywords and audiences.

Why Hasn’t It Worked For Me?

A lot of South African business come to us after having setup an account and trying their hand at it. Unfortunately without the experience and training they often end up bidding on irrelevant and costly keyword variations. Why is this a problem? If you don’t fully understand how to optimise your campaigns, you could easily end up paying exorbitant prices for each lead or sale. This means wasted money!

What if you already have an agency running your Google Ads but you are not happy with your results? Is Google Ads to blame? Does it just not work for your business? Most definitely not! Most probably the agency is focusing on clicks, impressions and driving traffic to your website. This can be problematic as these don’t necessarily equate to conversions and finally sales. There are many variants that make a successful campaign, landing page quality, negative key words, focused keyword bidding, etc. and focusing on only a few of them will not get you the most bang for your buck.

How Much Does It Cost?

Each account is different and has unique needs and budgets, there is no set cost and Google Ads can work for almost any advertising budget.

Many PPC agencies cut costs by restricting the number of campaigns, ad groups and ads allowed per account, this is not an effective strategy. Instead, we work with you to optimize each account and get the most out of your daily budget.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Common IT issues and solutions:

My computer won’t turn on but my screen will?

  • Check that the monitor cable is connected securely (Unplug/re-plug)
  • Make sure your monitor is switched on and there is power to your computer
  • Have you tried turning it on and off again?
(Hold your power button down for 30 seconds to ensure it shuts down and restarts properly)

My computer is so slow.

Your computer can run slow and lag for many reasons.

  • You may have too many applications or website tabs open at once. Make sure you have enough storage left on your drives, this plays a major role in the functionality of your PC.
  • Make sure you have one antivirus programme installed.
  • Try to restart your computer daily, this makes sure all background applications are closed.

My computer keeps freezing, shutting down or restarting.

  • Usually, this is a software problem, take a look at your software updates or your antivirus programme. You can run back any updates that may have occurred.
  • Run a virus scan and check for Windows Updates or application updates. Keep your machine up to date.

My downloads are taking too long.

  • This could be a hardware problem or your internet connection might be too slow or faulty.
Make sure your Ethernet cable is secure if your machine is networked.
  • Make sure you have enough storage and that your hard disk is fully functional.
  • Restart your router (Leave it off for 10 seconds) and restart your computer.

 My computer keeps showing popups.

  • You may have accidentally installed a program that has something called “Adware”. This allows for unwanted ads to pop up.
  • Run a virus scan.
  • Go to your web browsers settings and look for any suspicious-looking add-ons and disable them.

My Wi-Fi is slow or keeps disconnecting.

  • Make sure you are in range of your Wi-Fi router. If you see the signal on your device is only showing 1 or 2 bars, then your signal is weak, this can cause speed issues or cause your machine to disconnect.
  • If you have a dual-band router, use the 2.4g Wi-Fi connection if you are further away or the 5g connection, when you are closer to the router.
  • You may consider adding a range extender or a 2nd router to your network.
